annuity…cant even find the bank?? HELP?
My husband has an annuity from the 70′s. My husband worked for a car dealership and when he applied for Social Security we got a letter stating we had 7000.00 from this annuity. Well come to find out we indeed have an annuity. My husband passed away and when I was going through some things I came across the paperwork. The paperwork is over 30 years old. I called the company (bank) and they can not find anything, the dealership has since been sold and they have no clue where to direct me. Everyone keeps giving me the run around! I called one place and they told me to call Dept. of Labor. I am so lost in what I need to do. Is there some place that helps search these things out?
I would contact social security. Since they knew about the annuity they may be able to get you more information. You may also try unclaimed property search for your State this website can direct you to the proper website for the State you live in.
